On What to Cook

Hello internet! My name is Megan, and this is my first blog! Why is it called TronTron's Kitchen, and not Megan's Kitchen? Well, TronTron is a name a few friends affectionately call me, so I'm a little partial to it! Why is this a cooking blog? Well, my Human Biology professor has given us a cooking project (probably the best assignment ever). I do not often cook; I feel uninspired to cook for myself. I do love trying out healthy, tasty recipes when cooking for others, though. Keeping a cooking blog is kind of like cooking for others, so I should feel well motivated... and there is that whole grading process I should keep in mind.

Now the question is: what to cook? What I want to cook is lasagna. What I cannot eat is cheese. So, what I want to try to make is dairy free lasagna. I also want to make it soy free, gluten free, and meat free. I figure, why not? I may as well hit some more allergens/dietary restrictions, as I know a lot of people who suffer from one or more of these allergies, or are vegetarian.

I found a recipe for eggplant lasagna that meets all my restrictions. Yay! I have to admit, it looks a little gross. I have at least three attempts to make it, so maybe I can actually make it taste good! ... Or maybe I should have chosen something easier.

  1. Hi. I love eggplant! Can't wait to see what you come up with. P.S. I don't we're graded on this :) Makes it even better.

  2. Megan, are you in fact allergic to soy, gluten and meat? If you are, you're a very rare bird indeed. I'm afraid you're putting too many restrictions on yourself. You want this to be something you'll come back to. Having said that I know my sister, who is a vegan but not allergic to anything, has made a vegan lasagna for many years. I don't think I've had it (she lives in California) but I've heard it's great. You might do some searches for something like that.

  3. Megan,

I love that you are trying to make this with all the restrictions. I call myself a "flexitarian" because I rarely eat meat and I'm always trying to eat gluten free, but it is hard to find good recipes. I look forward to viewing more of your blog!
